Product Review: Doxin 300/500 Watt "Pure Sine Wave" Inverters

A look at two cheap inverters that boast of a true sine wave output. Are they any good?

I can't actually find any of these being offered for sale right now, outside of 220 volt/50 Hz versions. The seller I bought them from is no longer registered on eBay.

Only under a particularly egregious overload do either one of these give up and shut down. The shutdown circuit is a latching type, requiring manual intervention to restart. I find that preferable, especially in a place where the inverter might not be paid attention to regularly.

The USB charging connection on the larger inverter works well and is capable of high current charging. These are better than most in that they don't totally destroy the AM or (particularly) FM broadcast bands when a device is attached and charging. It's based around a 7805 linear regulator.

Don't complain about the resolution. This is an older video that I finally decided to finish. If you're going to complain anyway, complain to the people who implemented a crappy upscaler in whatever you're watching on.
