Mk4 Coil Gun - 6-Stage, 3D Printed - 780 Rounds Per Minute
I've started making a tutorial on how to build this, It's incomplete but can be found here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Mk4-6-Stage-3D-Printed/
Portable 6-Stage, 3D Printed Coil Gun.
Coil Operating voltage: 66.6V DC - Lithium Polymer Cells
Coil Resistance: 2 Ohm +/- 0.1 Ohm
Peak Current Per Coil: 33.3A
Peak Power Per Coil: 2.22Kw
Control Circuitry and Reloading motor operates @ 14.8V DC
"Small" magazine capacity = 30 Rounds
"large" magazine capacity - 65 Rounds
Max fire rate is approx 900 Rounds per minute, but starts to jam at such high reloading rate.
Max reliable fire rate is around 780 Round per minute.
Average Muzzle Velocity is 15.41 Meters/second with fully charged batteries - Mean average taken from 100 shots.
Average Muzzle Energy is 0.85J per shot as calculated from the Mean Average Velocity.
There are no capacitors on this gun, hence the lower firepower and increased rate of fire when compared to "Traditional" coil guns.
Arduino controlled reloading allows for Semi / Fully Automatic fire modes and the ability to choose exactly how many rounds per minute the gun shoots.
DIY Arduino Chronograph displays fairly accurate velocity readings on the computer via Serial interface.
3D Printer Used: Prusa I3 - Extruder style Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM).
3D Modelling software used: Blender
Printing Software Used: Repetier Host
