Discovering Ruda: Colombia's Herb for Good Luck

In Bogotá, I encountered ruda, an herb believed to ward off negative energy and attract good fortune. Here's what I learned about its significance.

While exploring La Candelaria, I met a vendor who introduced me to ruda, also known as rue. Intrigued, I took a moment to inhale its distinct aroma, curious about its cultural importance. In Colombia and other parts of Latin America, ruda is cherished for its protective qualities. Traditionally, it's used to cleanse spaces, ward off negative energy, and invite prosperity. Some even carry it as a talisman or brew it into teas for its reputed health benefits.
