In the summer of 1983, twenty-seven-year-old Teresa JoAnn Peroni walked into the woods behind a party in Selma, Oregon, with her boyfriend. He came back. She did not.

Just a missing persons file, a suspect who moved to California and started over, and a brown purse delivered anonymously to a sheriff's department one year later containing Teresa's epilepsy medication — the prescription she never went anywhere without.

Fourteen years passed before anyone found anything. In 1997, a human skull was recovered less than a mile from where Teresa was last seen. Investigators suspected it was hers.
