Asian Markets Trade Mixed Mirroring Similar Cues From Wall Street Overnight; Weak Start On D-Street?

Asian markets showed mixed trends today. Japan’s Nikkei 225 reaching a record high for the second consecutive day and the Topix index gaining 0.31%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.27%. Markets in China, Hong Kong, and South Korea remained closed for public holidays.

Meanwhile, the GIFT Nifty opened at 25,158, down 0.03%, showing a flat to negative bias in trade today.

US equity markets ended mixed, with the S&P 500 climbing 0.36% to close at a new record, while the Nasdaq gained 0.71% to finish at 22,941.67. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 63.31 points (0.14%), closing at 46,694.97.
