Special Forces - On the Brink of a Possible (HD)

A video about Police Special Forces, Elite Counter-Terrorism and Anti-Terrorism Units. Special Police Units serve as Special Operations Forces trained primarily for anti-terrorism operations and hostage-rescue situations. They are highly-trained military or police operators and officers trained to perform unconventional and often high-risk missions.

History of Police Special Units begins on September 5th, 1972, when Palistinian terrorists kidnapped 11 Israeli athletes on the Summer Olympic Games in Munich:

The incident culminated when German police, neither trained nor equipped for counter-terrorism operations and underestimating the number of terrorists involved, attempted to rescue the athletes. They failed and the operation led to the deaths of one policeman, five of the eight kidnappers and all of the remaining nine hostages.

As a consequence of the incident's mismanagement, the West German government created the GSG 9 so that similar situations in the future could be responded to adequately and professionally. Other countries followed.

Nowadays most famous anti-terrorist units are: French GIGN, German GSG 9, Israeli Yamam, Austrian Einsatzkommando Cobra, Russian Spetsnaz Alpha, British S.A.S. , American Delta Force and Seal Team Six.
