New laws threaten asylum seekers with prison and deportation

People coming to the UK to seek asylum may be given longer prison sentences and face deportation under new laws.

The Home Secretary Priti Patel says the harsher laws are meant to deter people from taking the dangerous journey to the UK, and instead take safer measures.

But charities say the most desperate people will still do whatever it takes to reach safety.
