Boost to higher education infrastructure in Garo Hills.

Higher Education is of paramount to the country as it is tool to develop a knowledge based society in the 21st Century. Higher education institutions must ensure the maximum usage of human resources and infrastructure and inject the quality inputs and feedback in the system to improve its efficacy, viability and relevance in current era of globalization.

Williamnagar and Baghmara – two important towns in the State of Meghalaya with each district having just one Government College, the system has not been able to provide adequate thrust in improving quality education.

The infrastructure in these colleges have been poor.

The college administration has been repeatedly making its plea for improving their infrastructure facilities. In the last two years, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri. Conrad K. Sangma made several visit to these district, wherein he was made aware of the poor infrastructure facilities.

A person who has proved himself to be a leader of the mass took the responsibility to enhance the education system and has been instrumental in devising the – Meghalaya Education Policy. His vision to improve the college infrastructure in Williamnagar and Baghmara, led to the formulation of a dedicated fund, which will be utilized to create better education and infrastructure facilities.

12 cr each has been earmarked for Williamnagar Govt College and Captain Williamson Sangma Govt College in Baghmara.

It is indeed a good news worth sharing and we are hopeful that soon the foundation for the new infrastructure will be laid in Williamnagar and Baghmara, which will enhance the educational facilities.
