ARTIST ARE DOING TWITTER WRONG! Maybe!
Thanks for watching!
I'm sure this kind of video is really different from my regular content, but it is something I put a lot of effort in and I feel like with RJ Palmers large following this might influence some people to make wrong decisions in their pursuit for their art on twitter. I have nothing against RJ Palmer, so I really hope no one sees this as a call out video, its just testing the advice he gave people, and this kind of advice is very relevant and sought after by smaller artists online.
I'm sure somewhere in here I ended up making a few mistakes, and there are other things to take into consideration about how a post did well or not. For instance, the negative pieces ended up being posted around the time of Inktober and all of the derivatives beginning. However after the initial explosion of Inktober/derivatives the results were all particularly negative. There are also most superficial things like day of the week and time of day.
I also want to mention, since i didn't in the video, the beginning of the year, I only had around 180 followers. So anything posted in January had a very miniscule following, and as the year progresses that following got bigger. My following wasn't always 400+ (which isn't even that large in terms of the overall), but it has since grown since a lot of these pieces were posted, and some of them performed worse.
One thing I didn't mention in the video was also tagging efficently. A lot of people add #wip #digitalart and other more "fillery" tags into their work. These typically don't get you much, since they are such broad search terms and it is way better to be more specific about your tags then just adding whatever you feel like. Also not going tag crazy and adding like 20 tags to one piece of art.
And the last thing, I didn't add what I wrote was OG captions, mostly since I felt like it wasn't nessecary. In most of the reposts I tried to include at least the fandom name, so FFXIV, Guilty Gear, etc... and the one post that did the best didn't even have FFXIV in the title.
