Learn how to sew three recreated early medieval embroidery stitches, based off archeological finds from Northern Europe! This video covers plait stitch, based off a headdress found in Dokkum in the Netherlands, looped stitch, based off pieces found in Dublin and Sutton Hoo, and raised plait stitch, found on the same headdress from Dokkum, as well as hats from Oostrum and Leens.
As always, these are a reconstruction, based off my interpretation, and may not be accurate, but you can find my research below if you want to have your own go at it!
