Here's what I love about this song: Tom isn't picking a side — he's pointing out that BOTH sides are picking a side not because they believe in it, but because they think it'll be slightly less bad than the other. Nobody is truly happy. Nobody is truly winning. The machine just keeps running while we fight each other left vs right, red vs blue, and nothing actually changes.

That dichotomy — the idea that we've all been sorted into two camps that are both failing us in different ways — is something I think most honest people feel but are afraid to say out loud. Tom said it.

This is one of Tom's underrated gems and I can see why it resonates with so many people across the political spectrum.
