Gary has been creating and sustaining musical performance groups since the ninth grade. The dynamic power of orchestration, collaboration, and improvisation inspired him to apply these principles to team and leadership development. Since founding Orchestrating Excellence (originally One World Music) in 1987, Gary has become an active contributor to the fields of international art, education, business, and organizational development. In 1992, Training Magazine named Gary an up-and-coming leader in the areas of business innovation and creativity. Gary's work has been covered in the Wall Street Journal, the Harvard Business Review, the Chicago Tribune, and the St. Louis Business Journal. Gary has presented his concepts on music as a metaphor for leading and navigating change at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Apple University, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In 2014, Gary was engaged by Xerox PARC to develop a training program capturing innovative best practices drawn from PARC's illustrious 40-year history as the birthplace of modern computing. He has presented participatory workshops and interactive keynotes to more than 100,000 people in organizational and conference settings on four continents.
