Harley Benton SC Junior vs Vintage V120 | Battle of the affordable Les Paul Juniors! Guitar shootout
Time for another affordable guitar shootout… today it’s the Harley Benton SC Junior and the Vintage V120 under the microscope!
These are both budget singlecut guitars that are inspired by the legendary Gibson Les Paul Junior, of course, and they’re pretty similar on the face of it. Where the differ is in the woods used, the pickups, and in the size of the neck – which is the key factor for me in deciding between these two.
The Harley Benton SC Junior has the more standard neck size, along with a standard Roswell P90. It also has a mahogany body and neck, and an amaranth fingerboard. The Vintage V120 ReIssued edition in Two Tone Sunburst, meanwhile, has a massive neck – it really is big! – and a mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck, and a Lignum Rosa fingerboard. The pickup is a Wilkinson W90SK, which is stacked – more info on that and everything else is in the video.

Here's my full review and demo of the Vintage V120: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckzLNIAoUX0
And my full review and demo of the Harley Benton SC Junior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HosEmW2Y-GA
My setup for this video was as follows: I ran the guitars into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head, and used the Revv G3 distortion pedal for the really heavy sounds. The amp went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.
Here’s some links to those bits of gear:
