8. Oarfish
The depths of the ocean hide many wonders, and one of those wonders is the Oarfish. This is a large fish that is the largest "bony fish" alive that we know of. The largest one ever discovered was 36 feet long. Yet when it was first viewed? Not many thought it was a truly real fish. Mainly because it was "too big" or "too monstrous" to be real, and very much unlike anything we had seen before.
7. Beached Whales
The idea of a "Beached Whale" being a "sea monster" may not seem right to some, but it's an accurate summation of events that have happened over the course of many years.
This is mainly because beached whales happening at all is one of the biggest mysteries of the ocean. We've all seen the pictures and footage of people trying to help a whale get off of the beach and into the water once more. But how do they get there in the first place?
6. Squids
Squids are one of the most interesting creatures in the oceans, and they're ones that scientists are desperate to study for a whole host of reasons. Especially since much of what we know about them...is because they've washed up on beaches.
5. Mermaid
When you think of Scotland, you likely go towards the legend of another mythical creature known as the Loch Ness Monster, but in fact, the country has one of the most interesting mermaid tales you'll ever hear, and it's one that features a mermaid getting washed up on the beach.
4. Muriwai Monster
In 2016, a man was walking down the beach of Muriwai in Auckland New Zealand when he found something he didn't expect. A monster.
The creature was massive, and appeared to be nothing short of a beast from below the depths, one that would later be named the Muriwai Monster. Eventually, scientists came down and observed the monster and revealed that it was in fact...Driftwood.
3. The Philippines Hair Blob
In 2018, a white creature appeared on a beach in the Philippines, and no one could tell what it was or wasn't. Not the least of which was because of its "blob" shape and the fact that it was covered in "hair". Also, the "globster" as it was called by the locals was over 20 feet long.
2. Sea Monster Of New Zealand
On a New Zealand beach known as Bay of Plenty in 2013, a carcass of a "sea monster" appeared. The creature was massive and scary in appearance thanks to its decomposed state, as well as the massive teeth that were "revealed" to everyone who looked at it. It was 30 feet in length, and there are only a few sets of aquatic life that could grow to that length that we know of.
1. Monster Eels
Sometimes, it's hard to classify a fish that you snag or is washed up on a beach because it doesn't look like anything you've ever seen before. To that end, there have been two cases of "monster eels" that have been documented over the years.
