Moynihan Train Hall at Pennsylvania Station: Opening Day

Ever since the original Pennsylvania Station fell victim to the wrecking ball in 1964, people have dreamed of recapturing its glamour and beauty for intercity passengers. After 57 years, some of that has finally returned in the form of the Moynihan Train Hall located in the old sorting area of the Farley Post Office, built at the same time and to the same architectural style as the original Penn Station.

This facility serves both Amtrak and the Long Island Rail Road. NJ Transit does not serve the new facility as Tracks 1-4 do not extend far enough west, though you can board a NJ Transit train from the concourse if you have the NJT DepartureVision app. But the facilities are mainly for Amtrak passengers with new waiting rooms and a new Metropolitan Lounge that rivals some of the best airport lounges in the country. A fine way for Amtrak to begin their 50th Anniversary year.
