The big guy on the front of my boat was my first mate from the time we were 6. Done at least 10,.000 river miles with the big fella. I was taking care of him all trip as he was riddled with anxiety and loosing his eye site. all the drs. just kept saying it was anxiety but it turned out it was a massive brain tumor. Life has been extremely difficult without him, he was my life, my soul mate. the only person who truly got me. Finally after 4 years iv learned to celebrate him and stopped using his death as a excuse to self sabotage my life with drugs and alcohol. he would not want that. I miss him every hour of every day. the last shot is us doing Cramer rapid on the Main and that was the last rapid he ever did. You can hear the joy In our voices going over it. the boat wrapped and flipped and stayed there for 5 min until knocking loose. redside rapid on the middle fork of the salmon river.
