How to: Chinese Staircase Braid

A Chinese Staircase Braid puts an exciting spin on the traditional braid hairstyle. This look is gorgeous and can be dressed up or down for whatever you have on, whether it be for school, a friend’s birthday or a dinner with your besties.

Follow these steps to achieve this look;
1. Place hair into a low ponytail
2. Section off small segment of hair and wrap it around the rest of the ponytail, and pin into place
3. Hold a new piece at the base of section, keeping it on the right side
4. Bring the rest of that piece under your ponytail, you should have a loop on the right, bring the long section over the top of your ponytail and pull through the loop, pull it tight and adjust so it sits at the base of the ponytail
5. Grab another small section from the ponytail so that you now have two equal sized sections, again, hold the two sections at the base so that they combine, keeping them on the right side
6. Again, hold the two sections at the base so that they combine, keeping them on the right side
7. Loop underneath the ponytail and then over and through the hole
8. Repeat these steps until you are happy with the braid length
9. Secure with a scunci polyband and add texture to the rest of the ponytail
