When Sophia Marshall was born she spent the first six months of her life in hospital due to severe heart problems. But if that wasn’t tough enough, at just seven weeks old doctors told her parents that their daughter had a rare birth defect that meant she would never walk and must either use a wheelchair or have a double leg amputation, a decision they refused to make. Instead, they carried out a daily plan of physiotherapy to strengthen Sophia’s legs. And thanks to their perseverance, Sophia took her first steps in October 2018. All three joined us to share their incredibly inspiring story.
