Everything Wrong With My E38 | 2001 BMW 740iL

A 15 year old car is hard to keep in perfect condition, but you'd hope that a car that cost nearly $100k new would be built with quality materials. We take a look at all the problems with my 2001 BMW 740iL E38 such as the mechanicals, interior trim, electronics, and more.

We look at the broken glove box, broken cup holders, un-coded board computer, failing suspension and brakes, broken self-levelling suspension, broken auxiliary fan, groggling A/C, and much more. While suspension and brake components are expected to need service, our overall disappointment comes down to some elements of BMW's flagship car that felt cheaper than needed. The glove box and cup holders are universally looked on as poor design and material choices.

Our E38 is a 2001 BMW 740iL with Cosmos Black exterior paint with Sand Beige interior leather, with widescreen navigation, PDC, rear sunshades, sport dampening control, and chromeline interior trim.
