Is ‘Negro’ a Racist Word in the Philippines? [Street Interview] | ASIAN BOSS

If someone uses the word “Negros”, how would you feel? Would you find it offensive? Well, recently the Filipino boyband SB119 tweeted 'Hello Negros!' to their fans which created a buzz on Twitter and are now accused of being racist. But did you know that “Negros” can mean something entirely different in the Philippines? Do average Filipinos find the word 'Negro' offensive or not? We hit the streets of Manila to find out.
The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Filipino population.

Our vision is to build a lasting grassroots movement of young people from every country to report on real social and cultural issues. We believe having meaningful discussions with people with different opinions is extremely important.
