BOY GEORGE Live In London Japanese TV Special 1989
This is the final concert on the "Boy's Own Tour", promoting the album "Tense Nervous Headache". The concert took place on March 31, 1989, some three months after the previous date, and was staged just for the occasion of filming it for the Japanese market, as Boy George was having visa issues and could not travel to that country at the time.
The set focuses almost exclusively on songs from "Tense Nervous Headache", and most of the songs have never been played live outside of this tour- and this is the ONLY professional recording of this tour that I know of- video or audio. Fortunately, it has been preserved well and is presented here at near-broadcast quality.
After a very disappointing time getting the album released, (it never was released in the UK), watching it fail to chart almost everywhere, and having different label branches butcher the tracklist and forcing him to record new songs for it, he was beyond disillusioned with the music industry. At the backstage wrap party for this show, he disbanded his band and announced an early retirement from recording and touring as Boy George.
He had already been working with MC Kinky and Jeremy Healy (ex-Haysi Fantayzee) on a new project as E-zee Possee, released on his own private record label, "More Protein", and would find greater success working anonymously over the next couple of years as Angela Dust, member of the Possee and member of Jesus Loves You. He would not release another album as Boy George in the UK until 1995's "Cheapness And Beauty".
