Finding my people and healing from white supremacy | Mandy Lee | TEDxHopewellValleySchools

How would you answer the question: "Who are your people?" In this talk, Mandy Lee explores the lives of her ancestors, her stake in racial justice, and the potential for healing in the journey to anti-racism. Mandy is deeply passionate about community-driven climate, food, and environmental justice initiatives and the infrastructure and policy that allows them to thrive. She organizes with the DC Mutual Aid Network, lives in an intentional community of artists and activists, loves her community garden, and, in her professional life, works with the NAACP to support a just transition to sustainable development in Black and brown communities. In her prior role at the U.S. Green Building Council, she supported the improvement of the LEED rating system for sustainable buildings, with a focus on social equity and international applicability. She has studied and worked on climate change resilience and equity initiatives from the local to national scale in the U.S. and East Africa. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
