The Doors - Break On Through (To The Other Side) Drum Cover
My drum cover of The Doors' Break On Through (To The Other Side).
Thought I'd share this short but rockin' tune from The Doors. From their 1967 debut self-titled album, this song is the opening tune and it starts out with a bang. The bossa nova beat laid down by drummer John Densmore is so clean, so fast, so precise, it took awhile to really lay into it well (although I do rush a bit in some places). It was said that John was inspired by the bossa nova grooves from Brazil that was making its way into popular music at that time.
Such a fast song but I notice in places where it's kind of out of time especially the fills before the chorus. Or maybe it's just me as my timing can be pretty bad at times, lol. Anyway, I tried my best to get them right although I have to admit this isn't one of my best performances. Tells you how tough the song is!
Anyway, such a great song. However, there is one subtle difference in this version I used compared to the original version. Can anyone figure it out? If you do, place your answer in the comment section to see if you're correct. (I'll see if anyone can guess and two, if anyone really reads these descriptions, lol).
Ok, hope you dig this one. Something to upload for you cats to enjoy.
So until next cover, take care, stay safe and stay healthy!
