Book Review: The Keeper of Lime Rock by Lenore Skomal (2002)

Hello! I’m Danielle or “DarnPrettySmile” on Youtube, back with another Book Review.
Today’s book was a quick read that I purchased from a thrift store for only 25 cents. I read it from May 19th to the 26th, 2020, which was just a week.
The Keeper of Lime Rock: The True Story of Ida Lewis, America’s Most Celebrated Lighthouse Keeper. By Lenore Skomal
This book was really easy to get through. Less than 150 pages. It was well-written and the opening sequence like something from a movie. Have I mentioned I’m a screenwriter by hobby? Someday. That made it very easy to get interested in this book when the first sequence was just like watching a movie.
The rest of the book was very well researched and gave a lot of good context about the time period which was the 1860s and up and did its best to highlight this woman’s life, especially since she didn’t really leave many journal entries on anything. It’s alway interesting to hear about people who defy the odds and Ida Lewis was one of those people.
I recommend The Keeper of Lime Rock since it’s a quick read about an interesting subject. Maybe someday I’ll be the one to write the movie. I’d like to get my hands on the documentary for a bit more research.
Have you read this book? What did you think? Gonna check it out? Find it on abebooks.com starting at $3.60 and Half Price Books starting at $3.90. I do not receive kickbacks from mentioning those sites, but I am open to sponsorships.
Until the next book review, keep reading and keep reaching for more books. Thanks.
