I am a fiercely loyal person to those who are close to me. After I'd been teaching English abroad for a while and had stacked some money up, an old "friend" approached me to go in on a business proposition he had developed. What transpired was devastating not because of how much work I had done abroad teaching to get the $10,000 and the time I lost, but what hurt most was having my trust violated. I know it's hard to hear, but many people don't want to see you succeed. As you progress and work hard there will be more and more people that will be jealous and envious of your accomplishments. Always stay vigilant and be aware of the fact that some friends and acquaintances may actually be wolves in sheep's clothing. In the end... I still win though. This whole process I dealt with taught me more about business and life and I've since used this knowledge to make better deals.
