Limit for Lithium Ion Batteries on Airplanes
The limit for lithium ion batteries on airplanes is 100Wh (about 27,000mAh)
To learn more check out the FAA websites here: https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/more_info/?hazmat=7
and here: https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/
Notes:
- Batteries must be in carry on luggage (not allowed in checked luggage)
- No quantity limit on batteries less than 100Wh
- 100-160Wh are permitted (2 only) with airline approval
- Over 160Wh are not allowed (in checked or carry on)
- Loose spare batteries must have their battery terminals protected so they don't short circuit (cover with tape, put in a case, put in a back pack compartment sleeve)
- Make sure to check your individual airline for specific rules on lithium ion batteries
