How Andre Agassi Won Wimbledon in 1992

The 1992 Wimbledon final may best be described as the turning point of Andre Agassi's career.

Having lost his first three grand slam finals to underdog players. Agassi was given little hope of winning the 1992 Wimbledon Championships.

A tournament that had historically dominated by serve and volley players.

Agassi would prove his doubters wrong by fighting his way through to the quarter-finals where he would defeat the former 3-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker. In the semis he would defeat another legend in John McEnroe.

His opponent in the finals was the 20 year old Croatian Goran Ivanisevic. Who would set a record of his own at the '92 Championships for most aces served.

In the end, Agassi's returning skills would win out over Ivanisevic's massive serve and he would go on to win his first grand slam title.

Becoming the first player in the history of the game to win Wimbledon from the baseline.
