The OECD has delivered concerning news about our global economy, reducing growth forecasts to 2.9% as President Trump's tariff policies create worldwide ripple effects. American growth is expected to drop to 1.6%, with the OECD Chief Economist warning of impacts on incomes and job creation. In these trying times, I'm reminded how important international cooperation and goodwill remain—the very values we celebrate during the holiday season.

There's a small bright spot in America's job market, with openings rising unexpectedly to 7.39 million in April. Healthcare and professional services sectors are showing particular resilience—a hopeful sign during challenging economic times. However, the Federal Reserve cautions that new tariffs may weaken employment in coming months.

My heart grows heavy watching tensions between China and the United States continue. Despite a 90-day truce agreed upon in Geneva, both nations accuse each other of unfulfilled commitments. Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine brings tremendous suffering, with recent drone strikes, power outages affecting 700,000 people, and claims of attacks on the Crimean bridge.
