9.1.2 - ICF AI Framework: Evaluate AI Coaching Vendors | Coach as Operator

When a vendor tells you their product is "ICF-aligned AI coaching," what are they actually claiming? Most coaches either take it on faith or dismiss it as marketing — because without a framework, both responses are equally defensible. ICF published a six-domain Framework in January 2025 that changes that. BetterUp Coachee AI, CoachHub AIMY, and every AI coaching platform on the market can now be evaluated against it. If you're a credentialed ICF coach and a corporate HR buyer tells you they're piloting one of these tools, you now have the vocabulary for the actual diagnostic conversation.

Walks all six domains of the ICF Artificial Intelligence Coaching Framework and Standards — oriented to the questions a practicing coach would ask a vendor, not a platform developer. This is the operator's version: how to evaluate competitive tools, read vendor claims, and hold up your end of the "why hire a human coach" conversation with evidence rather than slogans.
