Respiratory Support for COVID-19

In this lesson we take a look at the progression of respiratory support that we want to provide to our patients with COVID-19. While the ideal treatment strategy is not fully known, we have months of data and experiences from China, Europe, here in the US and around the world to draw on and we have identified strategies that seem to work and help our patients.

Covered in this lesson are low flow nasal cannula, high flow nasal cannula, CPAP and BiPAP, awake prone position, invasive mechanical ventilation, prone ventilation, and VV-ECMO. This lesson serves as a quick overview of each of these as well as covering the overall guiding schema towards the progression through these various treatment options.
