How to make green sand for aluminum casting
Learn how to make green sand which is used as a mold for casting aluminum items. It is simple to make using only three ingredients: play sand (silica sand), bentonite clay and water.
Purchasing sources:
Play sand: Any home improvement store like Lowes, Home Depot, Ace etc..
Bentonite Clay: https://www.bulkapothecary.com/raw-ingredients/clays/bentonite-clay/
You also can grind up unscented kitty litter in a blender and sift it to get bentonite clay. Just be sure not breathe in the dust.
The video shows how to do a squeeze test to see if the green sand sticks together well enough to use as an aluminum mold.
