The Post-Soviet Wars (Part 1) | The Caucasus
The Soviet Union collapse throughout the late 1980s eventually led to its downfall in 1991, but along with it it also caused what had previously been suppressed ethnic tensions to become full scale wars or civil wars. In this video I cover the first three states in the former USSR to be hit with conflict, the legacies of which still exist today within them. These regions were Nagorno Karabakh, Chechnya and then Georgia, all of which lie in the mountainous region of the former USSR known as The Caucasus.
