Russia: MAKS 2021 air show opens at Moscow's Zhukovsky airport

The first major air show during the pandemic kicked off at the Gromov Flight Research Institute's airfield in Zhukovsky near the Russian capital, on Tuesday.

The event featured a performance by the squad of 11 helicopters roaring through the sky. The visitors also saw the Il-114-300 regional turboprop airliner, the Irkut Corporation's MC-21-300 composites-intensive aircraft, the MiG-35 multipurpose fighter, and Sukho's fifth generation's Su-57 fighter.

MAKS 2021 is being held from July 20 to 25 at the airfield in Zhukovsky and exhibits the latest in aerospace and defence technology. MAKS plays host to dozens of overseas manufacturers, which this year include Airbus, Boeing, De Havilland Canada, and Viking Air.
