This video contains a detailed unboxing and review of the Zoom H4n Handy Recorder High Definition Audio Recorder. I purchased this device because I was having so many problems with my RODE VideoMic Pro mounted on my Canon 5D Mark II camera. I would always have clipping or the battery would go dead in the middle of shooting among many other problems. I needed a device to completely take over recording of audio when shooting my video and this device more then delivered. The device works as a standalone audio interface via USB to your computer for quick recording and editing and can also run on batteries or AC power to provide you with endless recording. The quality of the built in microphones are amazing and the stereo presence is pretty damn cool. The ability to plugin multiple XLR phantom powered mics or standard microphones is amazing and it can record up to 4 channels simultaneously giving you massive audio to meet all of your editing needs. I honestly believe this is probably the single most important thing you can buy after your camera to ensure your YouTube videos are professional and possible and cut down on editing time. The device is very intuitive and simple to use, I didn't have to read a single bit of documentation to figure out the unit and even figure out how to attach external microphones and switch between them. I also was pleased to find out it can supply microphone power to a 1/8th minijack microphone like you would find on a PC gaming headphone set which makes it a fantastic option for live streaming and recording amazingly clear audio. This is a fantastic option for YouTube video producers out there that want a way to record audio close to themselves while recording video from a distance away and the ability to record up to 4 microphones at a time gives you super flexibility to move around and change the volumes from each site in post to get the perfect sound stage for what you are trying to capture.
