40 Years On From The Chernobyl Disaster | Adam Higginbotham

“The most important thing to remember about this accident is that it was something that could really only have happened at that time, and in the Soviet Union.”

Workplace practices and reactor designs in the Soviet era were “unlike anywhere else in the world,” but learnings from the 1986 disaster mean nuclear energy is “much safer” today, says author of ‘Midnight in Chernobyl’ Adam Higginbotham.

Adam Higginbotham was speaking to Ryan Tubridy on Times Radio. Listen live every Sunday from 1-4pm.
