So I’m gonna take a minute to brag on my buddy John Rupple who’ve I’ve got to know in the last few years through working with Saber Tactical. I witnessed something last year I think we can all learn from as shooters. Never give up and everything is a lesson.

So here is the hard truth about diving deep into Airgun Competition at the highest level. You are going to have bad days and when a bad day strikes at one of these competitions, you start questioning your life choices. Big time.

The time and money and focus we all spend on this sport comes from a place of passion and drive. We love this sport at such a deep level that when you mess up as a shooter, have a technical issue, or Lady Luck just decided it was your day for her to burn it all down, it hits you hard. But what you do next is actually a HUGE opportunity.

I saw this play out in real time last year at RMAC with John and what he did with a dumpster fire moment was in my mind one of the greatest things I’ve seen so far in Airgun competition.

I saw John in the parking lot at RMAC really upset with the outcome on his first 100 yard benchrest card. When I say upset, I mean PISSED! But what he did with that energy is exactly what all of us should do and take note.

Without making any excuses, he went out into the desert shooting range between cards and fixed a small issue he had that caused big problems, got his head back on straight and went right back into competition.

Fast forward a few months later and the dude shot his best competition ever landing a top 10 finish at the Pyramyd Cup! The reason why John is a champion isn’t because he finished top 10. It’s because he didn’t walk around kicking dirt and blaming the universe. He sorted out his issue and got back at it. That is the Champion spirit and dare I say…. That’s KARMA. Don’t ever give up!
