Armed Forces Day Massed Bands Parade highlights from Gordon Barracks near Aberdeen Scotland in 2019

With no Armed Forces day public parades in 2020, here is one of the highlights from 2019, as the massed pipes and drums parade at Gordon Barracks, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Drum Major Neil Jamieson leads the massed Pipes and Drums on the parade square, as they play a selection of marches. The parade included Lonach Pipe Band, Huntly & District Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band, Ballater & District Pipe Band, Aberdeen UOTC Drums and Pipes and the The London Scottish Pipes and Drums. The audience included many veteran military servicemen and veterans associations. The bands march on playing "Farewell to the Creeks" and during the event also played tunes including "Battle of the Somme", "Cock o' the North" and the "10th H.L.I Crossing the Rhine".

Cock o'the North is a 6/8 time military march and bagpipe tune, with the title coming from the nickname of Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon, who in 1794 raised the 92nd Regiment of Foot, which later became the Gordon Highlanders.
