Former President George W. Bush is known for many things but fans and critics alike will be surprised by this.In a sit-down interview on HBO’s show, “Vice,” Bush talks candidly about his work with foreign HIV/AIDS prevention worldwide during his term as president.When asked why people don’t know this about him, he had this to say, “it’s unexpected. If you name is George Bush and you are from Texas, you are not supposed to love people.”
“When given the challenges of the world during my presidency, I tried to deal with them the best I could,” he said in reference to a time when he had to step up to the plate even though critics questioned whether he could read or write.“My biggest concern, is that the American people don’t really understand how successful this effort was on their behalf,” he said.With his help by pushing for foreign funding and organizations like the Global Fund, Rwanda has almost a zero percent transmission rate of HIV/AIDS from mother to child.
