Kalvakuntla Kavitha Dharna for Farmers | Police Arrest TRS Leaders at Telangana Secretariat

TRS Chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha staged a protest at the Telangana Secretariat demanding immediate procurement of paddy, jowar, and sunflower crops from farmers across the state.

Kavitha alleged that farmers are facing severe hardships due to the Congress government’s failure to properly purchase crops at procurement centres. She expressed concern over reports of farmers dying near procurement centres and accused the government of neglecting the agriculture sector.

During the protest, Kavitha and TRS workers symbolically poured paddy at the Secretariat to highlight the suffering of farmers. She demanded that the government immediately purchase paddy and stop unfair deductions (tarugu) during procurement.

Kavitha also accused officials of wrongly categorising Grade-A paddy as grade-less to deny bonus benefits to farmers. She criticised the lack of agricultural reviews by the Chief Minister and highlighted issues related to fertiliser supply and confusing government apps affecting farmers.

Police later detained Kavitha, TRS leaders, women activists, and farmers during the dharna, leading to tense scenes at the Secretariat.
