The Miracle on the Hudson plane - How it looks now
US Airways Miracle on the Hudson plane
READ BEFORE COMMENTING. Although it seems I am required to be, I am not an expert on aviation in general, or this plane, nor it's engines or raft. I am simply showing what it looks like sitting in this museum. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy the video!
So where is the US Airways - Miracle on the Hudson plane? Its at the Carolina's Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina ! I've been wanting to see it for a few years and so glad I finally got the chance. Flight 1549 is the main event in this place and for obvious good reason. They have every bit of information from the bird strike to the damage done while landing in the Hudson River. Captain Sully is as professional as they come in.
Once the NTSB finished their investigation, the this Airbus A-320 was donated to the CAM in Charlotte. They basically brought it there and set it up. Very little else. Its seemingly parked there exactaly how it was when pulled out of the Hudson River. Pretty cool! The sighs of the bird strikes are very incredible. A must see!
From Wiki- US Airways Flight 1549 was an Airbus A320-214 which, three minutes after takeoff from New York City's LaGuardia Airport on January 15, 2009, struck a flock of Canada geese just northeast of the George Washington Bridge and consequently lost all engine power. Unable to reach any airport, pilots Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off midtown Manhattan. All 155 people aboard were rescued by nearby boats and there were few serious injuries.
The incident came to be known as the "Miracle on the Hudson", and a National Transportation Safety Board official described it as "the most successful ditching in aviation history." The Board rejected as unrealistic the suggestion that the ditching could have been avoided had the crew immediately returned to LaGuardia or diverted to nearby Teterboro airport.
