Allow us to take a victory lap on choosing Paloma Mami to be a member of our DSCVR Artists To Watch 2020 class. Since 2019, the fetching New York-born, Chile-raised singer’s star has risen, her sound has evolved, and her fanbase has swelled in size. “Her penchant for pulsating numbers will deliver more hits for years to come,” we wrote at the time, and those words have been bolstered by the promise of tracks like “Mami,” “Goteo,” and “Religiosa.” All three were offered up as smooth, sultry singles before they were included on her debut album, “Sueños De Dalí,” released March 18, 2021. “Dreams” is technically listed as an interlude on the record, and with its jazz-ish guitar-driven arrangements it does have a different vibe. It was a pleasure seeing one of our fave young artists bring the special ballad to life here on Ctrl.
