Questions of Faith: A Jewish/Catholic/Muslim Dialogue (1997)

Rabbi Steven Moskowitz, assistant director for the Bronfman Center at the 92nd Street Y, moderates an interfaith panel discussion with Monsignor Thomas Hartman, director of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre’s cable television station, Telecare; Rabbi David Woznica, director for the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life at the 92nd Street Y; and Seifeldin “Seif” Ashmawy, founder of the Peace Press Association and publisher of the monthly newspaper, The Voice of Peace. Panelists discuss the similarities and differences between their three religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They also discuss their commitment to their faiths. Msgr. Hartman explains that his faith is a spiritual belief in God, while Rabbi Woznica shares that his commitment stems largely from his upbringing. Ashmawy discusses his path to actively choose Islam, explaining how it gave him the space to love all other religions. The panelists also discuss the differences in how they define their commitment to their religions, and the ways in which prayer is central to their faith.

Recorded April 3, 1997 at The 92nd Street Y, New York
