Do You Need Skid Plates? Probably, Yes.
After an Off-Road misadventure left my transmission oil pan smashed up into my transmission filter, I have a professional shop change all the parts… No, not really; I swap out the filter, smash the pan back into roughly the correct shape with a sledgehammer, and ballpark estimate the amount of fluid to pump back in.
It’s a little half-assed, but it works. Now I need to find an actual skid plate.
