DOUBLE SIDED CARD: How To Print then Cut The Perfect Card with Cricut

This project was inspired by how I have always been perplexed by double sided printing & I knew that once I cracked it, I’d be hooked! I hope you find this video helpful for making your own double sided print then cut cards. I made this one to send to friends/family after Christmas to wish them a Happy New Year & remind them of just how close our new little bundle of joy is to joining us! A special thank you to the Jumprope app for helping me create this tutorial.

TIPS
-Use the printable cardstock linked below in supplies. It is lightweight enough for printing. I tried using regular cardstock before & my printer couldn’t handle it. This is the only cardstock I ever use for printing on!
-The most important step for making sure your card prints correctly is lining up your project on your mats. Pay attention to Step 5. You will move your project to the bottom left of your mat to make sure it prints on the other side of your card. Otherwise, your card won’t line up & when your Cricut cuts out your card on the first side, some of your card will be cut off on the back.

00:12 Step 1: Start by adding a square. Resize. I made my card 4x4. You want the width of your shape to be DOUBLE the size you want your once your card is closed so I made my shape 4x8. Duplicate it so there are 2, one for each side of the card for you to design.
00:34 Step 2: DESIGN! I found my images in DS. I also uploaded a photo of us. Just make sure you design the FRONT side of your card on the RIGHT side of one of your shapes. The BACK will be on the left of the same shape if you decide to add anything there. I left mine blank The inside of the card will be designed on the second shape and it’s orientation is exactly how it looks. Left side on the left and right side on the right.
00:54 Step 3: After you are ALL done with your designs, FLATTEN. Select the designs and shape of your card sides ONE AT A TIME. Do not flatten both sides of the card together.
01:03 Step 4: Add vertical score lines LAST. Align them center-center on each card and attach them to each side of your card.
01:31 Step 5: Click “Make It” & select your 2nd mat. The two mats should mirror each other. The first mat has your design in the top left corner of the mat so the second mat should have your design in the bottom left corner of the mat.
01:49 Step 6: I always turn bleed on for matte papers like cardstock. I also ALWAYS open the system dialog and change my printer settings. I use “other matte inkjet papers” & best quality print. I also change the settings on my actual printer when inserting paper so the printer knows I am using matte paper.
02:00 Step 7: After your card spits out of your printer simply pick it up exactly how it came out & insert it directly back into the printing tray. Do not flip or rotate it at all! The side that came out last should be the side that enters into the tray first. Once printed, ALLOW THE INK TO DRY BEFORE TOUCHING!
02:25 Step 8: Place it on your mat so that the black print margins are located in the top left of your mat.
02:45 Step 9: Change tools when prompted. My Cricut always requests the scoring wheel first then the fine point blade.
02:58 Step 10: Fold at score line. ALL DONE! The rest of the tutorial is making a matching envelope.
03:12 Step 11: Insert a template from DS or upload a purchased template file. Etsy has a lot of options! I found mine in DS access images.
03:22 Step 12: Ensure correct sizing by placing a shape the same size as your CLOSED card in the center of the envelope & resizing the envelope to fit. My card is 4x4 so I made a 4x4 square.
03:48 Step 13: Add your cardstock color of choice to your light grip mat & cut/score.
04:15 Step 14: Add scotch tape runner to folds of card & tape in place.
04:42 Step 15: Add your card seal closed with tape runner when ready!
