Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statutes that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational, or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger dismissed a viral video alleging voting fraud as "obviously fake," claiming it’s likely part of foreign disinformation aimed at undermining Georgia’s election integrity. The video, which circulated widely on the platform X, showed a man purportedly voting multiple times, which Raffensperger called "false and a targeted attempt to sow distrust." Collaborating with federal authorities, he urged social media platforms, including X’s leadership, to remove the misleading content. Former CISA Director Chris Krebs and Georgia election officials have also condemned the video, linking it to “Russian troll farms” spreading election misinformation as voter turnout in Georgia reaches record highs.
