Bolivia’s 64 KM Death Road | A Fall Into a Deadly Jungle Below

Bolivia’s North Yungas Road, known as the Death Road, is one of the most dangerous roads ever built. Stretching over 64 kilometers, this narrow mountain route connects La Paz to the Yungas region, descending more than 3,500 meters through steep cliffs and dense jungle.

With sections less than 3 meters wide, no guardrails, and extreme conditions such as fog, rain, and landslides, this road has claimed hundreds of lives over the years. In the past, it was estimated that 200 to 300 people died here annually.

One of the deadliest accidents occurred in 1983, when a bus fell into a canyon, killing more than 100 passengers. Even today, the road remains a symbol of extreme transport risk, where one mistake can mean a fall into a deadly jungle below.
