MASSOLIT: The Party System in UK Politics

In this lecture, Professor Paul Webb (University of Sussex) introduces the idea of party systems in UK politics, focusing in particular on: (i) the idea of a party system as a pattern of interactions between political parties that can be competitive or collaborative; (ii) the different ‘arenas’ in which interactions between parties can take place: the electoral, the legislative and the executive; (iii) some examples of cooperation within each of these ‘arenas’; and (iv) the different ‘levels’ at which interactions between parties can take place.

This lecture is part of a larger course on The Party System in the United Kingdom. The full course can be found here: https://www.massolit.io/courses/the-party-system-in-the-united-kingdom?source=yt

MASSOLIT works with university academics to produce short video lectures in the arts, humanities and social sciences. It is available to schools and colleges on an institutional license as well as via private subscription: https://www.massolit.io/?source=yt
