What do I think of the new Kajabi checkout page? And why people are just overreacting.
Well hey everybody! It's Deanna Fenton here. I want to welcome you to a special episode of Simple Steps to Online Success. Last week there was a update made to the platform that caused all kinds of upheaval and grief and problems for a lot of people. The Kajabi checkout page has one particular.... it's not a feature. One particular quirk that causes a lot of confusion. And that is, if somebody is a current student or member of one of your products. If they go to buy another offer from you and they enter their email address, it will tell them, "You're already a member please log in". And unfortunately the login would send them to another page. That can create what is called "friction". Meaning, when we get somebody to a checkout page we want to make sure that the payment process is as seamless and easy as possible. So you're not introducing confusion or hesitation on the part of the person buying your offer. Kajabi attempted to help to solve that and it was an unfortunate choice of words in the directions that I believe caused the big problem. So they did set it up where if somebody was already in your database as a customer it allowed them to log in right there before they entered their credit.... or before they could purchase using the existing credit card on file. What happened was, this was very confusing to people who were not your customers. Who didn't already have a login. I can't tell you any time that I've gone to purchase an offer from anybody using any checkout process where the checkout process stopped me.
And that's because my desire for the product had already been developed over interaction with the person selling it, the sales page, and yes probably that the messaging on the checkout page just in terms of confirming that what I believed I was buying on the sales page is exactly what I'm getting on the checkout page. I will say that could be a factor. But if I have to enter my email address and log in or I have to enter all my information which is what these other checkout experiences require, it didn't matter if I really wanted to buy the product.
