How to Mix a Small Amount of Thinset

A bag of thinset usually only gives instructions to mix the whole bag. If you have limited time or will take longer than the working time of your product, you need to mix less than the whole bag. Pros can "wing it" by adding water to any amount of powder until it feels right. But if you're DIY like me, I'll show you my method to weigh the powder and calculate the proper amount of water needed.

This method works for any powdered product - thinset, grout, mortar, joint compound, etc.
