Mangroves & Salps @ Koh Hong Thailand

A different experience, snorkeling through mangroves at Koh Hong, Thailand. I noticed these tiny jellyfish things that looked like underwater fairies. Only later did I read up and discovered that they were Salps, planktonic tunicates with gelatinous bodies, with complex life-cycles.You can also see them in this video in in their individuals as blastozooids - Pegea confederata. They are chordata - having a central nervious system, like us without the vertebrae, and thus not like jellyfish at all. They were just amazing to see, especially in this eerie kind of environment.
